W.O. Smith Music School currently offers three camps for students interested in an exciting artistic experience during the summer months. Guided by world-class staff members, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities at each camp. Past camps have included singing, dancing, cooking, painting, and a whole lot more! W.O. Smith summer programs are only offered to students currently enrolled during the previous school year.
W.O. Smith Music School offers a weeklong resident music camp every June at Hillmont Camp and Retreat Center in White Bluff, Tennessee. Seventy students (aged 12 -18) are able to participate in this program, which features a daily schedule of required activities including private instrumental lessons, music history classes, instrumental ensembles, chorus, recreational activities, and a performance. A staff comprised of past and present W.O. Smith Music School faculty members and guest teaching artists from around the country instruct all classes.
Camp BackBeat is a weeklong experience for students who are interested in commercial music. Students who have completed one year of lessons on guitar, bass, drums, piano, or voice are able to apply for this camp. During the week, participants learn about a variety of genres from professional musicians including country, rock, pop, hip-hop, rhythm & blues, and soul, as well as other aspects of music business. The camp concludes with a student showcase.
Day Camp is an exciting, weeklong camp for children (aged 8-11) held at W.O. Smith. This camp is designed for young musicians to experience music in a stimulating and multifaceted environment. Day Camp incorporates singing, basic percussion, games, field trips, and surprises into a week of musical fun! A staff comprised of past and present W.O. Smith Music School faculty members and guest teaching artists from around the country instruct all classes.
