W.O. Smith Music School makes affordable, quality music instruction available to children from low-income families. We transform lives through music.


Volunteers play a truly essential role at the W.O. Smith Music School.  Students involved in the W.O. Smith private lesson program are offered one-on-one instruction once a week with a qualified volunteer teacher. We also have a need for volunteers to assist with library management, front desk duties, and special events.  Volunteer schedules are flexible.


Since 1984, the W.O. Smith Music School has introduced thousands of interested and deserving children to the world of music.  Your generous tax-deductible contribution will enrich the lives of our community’s deserving children.

Registration FAQs

[Translate] Q: If I registered my students last year but they were never placed, do I need to register again? A: Yes. We require parents to register every semester. But if you participate in Early Registration, your students will get preference over all new families.   Q: Can my friend who is new to W.O. Smith sign up his or her children? A: Not until August 4-7, 2014 when they are welcome to come into the school to register. They may not register online.   Q: If I forget to register before August, do my students still get preference over new family registrations? A: No. It is for this reason we strongly encourage you to register prior to August 1, 2014.   Q: Can I register one of my children who I had not previously registered? A: Yes, as long as they will be at least age 7 by September 1, 2014.   Q: Do I need to complete a different registration form for each student? A: Yes. 2014 Solo Competition Finalists

[Translate] Congratulation to the finalists in the 2014 W.O. Smith Music School Solo Competition.  The finals of the competition are this Friday, May 2, 2014 between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm.  Competitors will perform for a panel of distinguished judges who will determine the winners of the six official divisions, awarding a $100 prize to each, and the overall winner of the competition who receives a $250 grand prize!  Winners will also play on our Honors Recital on Friday,...
