Held at W.O. Smith nashville Community Music School
1125 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Join us for a morning of music and mission! In honor of W.O. Smith’s birthday, Breakfast Notes is the school’s inaugural mission-centered fundraising event. Attendees will gather to experience the power of music education firsthand through performances, alumni stories, and a celebration of music and lives transformed. The event will open the door for the next generation of supporters and champions of the school, its mission, and its students.
At W.O. Smith, music is more than a class, it is a catalyst. Through the gift of music, students gain confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging that carries into school, careers, and community. Without W.O. Smith’s fifty-cents-per-lesson music education model, many students would not otherwise have access to high-quality music instruction.

About W.O. Smith Music School
W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School has provided music education to thousands of low-income children who otherwise would not have been able to afford such instruction since 1984. More than 140 volunteer teaching artists provide instruction to 400 children annually at the non-profit school. The school also makes instruments, music, and learning materials available to students at no additional expense.
“It’s not necessary to be on a music career track to benefit from focused practice sessions, setting and achieving goals, or presenting a personal achievement to the public. We believe that the self-discipline involved in the process can help any developing person, whether or not he or she goes on to pursue a career in music. Music was my ticket out of the ghetto, and my hope is that music can help the youngsters we touch to realize their own ambitions.”
