private instructor

Students involved in the W.O. Smith private lesson program are offered one-on-one instruction once a week with a qualified volunteer teacher.  Instruction is offered for the following instruments:

  • piano

  • guitar and bass

  • drums and percussion

  • brass instruments

  • woodwind instruments

  • string instruments

  • voice

Generally, volunteer private teachers donate an hour of their time per week, teaching two students for a half-hour each.  If you are interested in volunteering as a private teacher at W.O. Smith Music School, please complete the form below and we will contact you when we have a need for teachers of your instrument of expertise.

All employees and volunteers at W.O. Smith Music School are subject to criminal background and child abuse registry checks.  Authorization for background information will be required prior to placement.

Any potential volunteers with F-1 or J-1 visas will need to have off-campus work permission before engaging in any practical experience related to or required for their program. New federal policies state that "unpaid practical experiences" could be considered unauthorized activity by USCIS.

***If you are a first time volunteer a staff member will be in contact with you regarding a new teacher orientation date and time***
