Vocal Audition Requirements
Be prepared to…
1) sing a prepared song that demonstrates your range
can be pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever
can be ‘a capella’ or accompanied by piano or guitar
should not be longer than 3 minutes
2) be able to match pitches (from piano or guitar) quickly
3) be able to sight-sing a simple melody
Piano/Keyboard Audition Requirements
Be prepared to…
1) play a song that shows us you are comfortable playing chords
can be only left hand or hands together
can be rock, pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever
should be appropriate for your experience level
can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes long
2) play a song that shows us you are comfortable playing a melody
can be only right hand or “melody in right, chords in left”
can be rock, pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever
should be appropriate for your experience level
can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes long
3) sight-read a chord chart
could include any or all of the following chords: C, D, dm, em, F, G, am, bm
Guitar Audition Requirements
Be prepared to…
1) play a song that shows us you can play like a rhythm guitarist
should consist of mostly chords
can be rock, pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever
should be appropriate for your experience level
can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes long
2) play a song that shows us you can play like a lead guitarist
should consist of mostly a melody line
can be rock, pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever
should be appropriate for your experience level
can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes long
3) sight-read a chord chart
could include any or all of the following chords: C, G, D, E, A, dm, em, am
Bass Audition Requirements
Be prepared to...
1) play two songs of different styles
- can be rock, pop, blues, folk, soul, r&b, funk, whatever o should be appropriate for your experience level
- can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes
2) sight-read a chord chart
Drums Audition Requirements
Be prepared to...
1) play a groove in three of the following styles: funk, rock, blues, swing, latin o should be able to play a loud and quiet groove in each style
- should be appropriate for your experience level
2) be prepared to match a simple groove after listening to a recording
